This week I’m going to talk about getting status at Starwood hotels. If you have a Platinum card, and you are a member of the SPG program, you can get your SPG membership upgraded to Gold without needing to earn it.
The SPG Gold benefit works for all stays at Starwood properties, whether your using Fine Hotels and Resorts for your stay, or not.
SPG Gold gives you a number of benefits over the base SPG membership:
3 Starpoints per dollar spent instead of 2
4pm late checkout if available (FHR hotels guarantee this too)
Slight room upgrade at checkin
Welcome Gift on arrival
Free in-room internet
Think of this as a lighter version of Fine Hotels and Resorts that works at all Starwood properties, even if they aren’t in Fine Hotels and Resorts.
