If Novotel only started to write to customers who made a direct reservation, on their web-page, booking.com may not even have received the message yet for the many, many bookings made via booking.com. Secondly, I would expect booking.com to take some time to digest and to consider what to do. It is therefore no surprise that we have not heard anything from booking.com yet. But rest assured; the message will reach us sooner or later
